Boy, do I have many thoughts about texting in social situations. I often have some time where I sit down just to think, think, think. The subject of texting in social situations has come to my mind before.
I have been in many situations where people were on their phones while being in a social situation. I find it rude when I am talking to a person and they suddenly pull out their phone to check their texts. I mean, hello, I am trying to talk to you! It's not a very nice feeling when I'm telling you something and you randomly pull out your phone. There goes all the attention I had from you. I mean, you could at least say "Excuse me for a minute"!
So, I now present to you a list of five etiquette rules for texting!
Rule 1. DO NOT text while somebody is talking to you, excuse yourself if it is really that important.
Rule 2. If you need to tell a person something important, you should call them. It is faster and easier than texting. Calling people is what phones were originally made for!
Rule 3. DO NOT panic when somebody doesn't reply to your text immediately . The person may not have their phone with them at the moment.
Rule 4. Remember there are situations where you should not text. Examples, talking to a person, crossing the road, etc.
Rule 5. Try not to spam people with mass texts. The person may be paying for receiving texts. Other than that, it's just really annoying.
